(Old Inital Post)
Hello again, there is a small chance you may remember me before on this forum. I competed in the Wilderness Survival challenge and did not finish my entry. I still feel kind of bad about it. I'm looking to resolve those feelings and try to get back into game programming.

I am a great fan of procedurally/randomly generated content. It's great to be able to replay a game you enjoyed while having a different experience each time.

My previous entry "Survival Forest" did not go well at all with zero lines of code and 1 sprite image. ..... My entry for this competition will hopefully be better. I plan on making a video update at least once a week that I'll link to this thread (My channel is http://www.youtube.com/user/Frod which 99% fitness related videos).

Title: Survival Island
Concept: Your character is placed on an island and must survive, and potentially escape. The island will generate different every time you play.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope everyone's entries go well.

Thank you Ploe and Dense for taking the time to visit my entry page and show your support.

I made a short video last week that just now posted. It's kind of long and is mainly just me giving an introduction to my entry. Please feel free to check it out if you would like:

Another video update. I'm talking about how my game will generate an island. Not the best way I'm sure.. but it seems to work for me. Please feel free to check it out if your curious and have the time. Thank you.

Another video. Um.. not a huge amount of progress.. but I'm feeling good. The video is basically me talking my way through the process of making a grass tile. It's kind of long, but feel free to give it a view if you would like. Thanks.

I just watched your art video. It looks good, but don't let it suck up too much of your time. You need at least one line of code this competition. ;) I'm curious to see what kind of gameplay mechanics this will involve. Do you need to gather a certain amount of food and water each day to stay alive? Build shelter? Fight off sharks?

Really cool art video. I study how to make game art the same way.
The final grass looks really good!

Finally got to watch your video. Damn man, that is some sexy grass. The other tiles are wonderful too! I believe I will be doing an art video soon, as art is the main thing I need to get done at this point. :S

@simon17, @Moosader, @eatcomics; Thanks for watching my art video and giving the positive feedback.

@simon17, Your right. I do need to get more coding done. I actually converted my VBA into VC++ last weekend.

I ran into an issue where I couldn't read the values of an array within a class. I think I needed to just refer to the array using a pointer or something. I'm sure it was something really simple.. but long story short... I uh.. got a virus on my computer. I couldn't recover from it, and it didn't have a foresight to backup or upload my work anywhere. So, I've lost alot of my work. I just got my computer up this morning.

I'm not out of this competetion though. I think if I have a good work ethic I have enough time to recover from this setback. I'm still really pumped at times about this competition.

Oh.. and @eatcomics I look forward to seeing your art video.
